Salice - A Century of Innovation

As a proud milestone, Salice will be celebrating 100 years in business in 2026. Founded in 1926 by Arturo Salice in Cantù, Italy, the company has grown from a local hardware retailer into a global leader in furniture hardware solutions.

Originally a retailer of locally produced and imported furniture hardware, Salice quickly expanded nationwide due to its unwavering commitment to quality and customer service.

In the late 1950s, Salice began producing its own hardware, and in 1957, it filed its first patent for a concealed, cylindrical, self-closing hinge—a revolutionary innovation that laid the foundation for the company’s future. This marked the official founding of Arturo Salice S.p.A.

To support its growth, Salice opened a factory in Novedrate in 1975 on a 143,000 m² parcel, the factory now has a 42,000 m² footprint.  In July 2000, the company acquired a majority stake in ADAR S.p.A., a specialist in slides and metal drawers, further broadening its range.

In 2010, Salice acquired an initial shareholding in Bortoluzzi Sistemi, a leading developer of advanced sliding systems. This strategic partnership culminated in full ownership on November 11, 2016, strengthening Salice’s leadership in high-performance opening systems.

Continuing this path of strategic expansion, in 2024, Salice acquired Atim S.p.A., the Italian leader in aluminum-based hardware solutions for transformable furniture. This acquisition introduced new expertise and innovative products—such as extendable tables and multi-functional components—into Salice’s portfolio. It also opened up new opportunities to scale these solutions globally through Salice’s established international network.

Today, Salice operates through 9 fully owned commercial subsidiaries and an extensive network of distributors in over 65 countries, including:

·         Germany

·         France

·         United Kingdom

·         Canada

·         United States

·         Hong Kong

·         Shanghai, China

With over 500 patents and 20 utility models, Salice has earned recognition for driving technological progress in the industry. Its commitment to quality and sustainability is backed by ISO 9001 certification since 1993 and ISO 14001 since 1998.

Employing 550 people, Salice continues to embody the spirit of Italian innovation, remaining a benchmark in functional hardware for premium furniture systems worldwide.
